CreepyPasta and How it has become widely popular/ Our Hunger for horror type folklore and the Fears that keep us binded to them.

Our hunger for anything scarey has always existed in some way, folklore being one of them. As children we heard our fair share of,"don't do this or so and so will get you" or the "so and so lurks around around every corner, just waiting for a misdeed to be done". We never really know HOW this happened, maybe its how we are as humans or is it something deeper?

Creepypasta happens to be one of those things where we fear but also seem to enjoy, our unsustainable hunger for it has not yet to stop, from Slenderman to Jeff the killer, from smile.jpg to Ben drowned. From our childhood games and fears, to our adult fears.

Why not start in the beginning of when Creepypasta began? or rather further then that? No date really can be said of when such things started to exist since most "started" in cultures during the early years of mankind; some form of "lore" exists in different forms,as shown in this paragraph i read.

"There are many forms of chain email that threaten death or the taking of one's soul by telling tales of others deaths, such as the Katu Lata Kulu chain email, stating that if it is not forwarded, the receivers of the message will be killed by the spirit. Another involved an email involving a homicidal Mickey Mouse, who will intrude the recipient's domain to kill him or her unless sent to the number of recipients (25). Any lower they will suffer death, injury, paranoia, and bad luck."

You are maybe starting to wonder and think," what is she getting at?" or"i don't understand what she is trying to say", rather on the whats  and whys, but rather what i am trying to say. I too, have started to become binded into Creepypasta and also reentering the folklore of what bumps in the night, and for some odd reason i find myself wondering and questioning if this has some hint of truth, or rather if people are creating just so they can forget lost pains.

I for one, had created my own creepypasta called Serena" the blood bride" i made her on the basis of the fact that some people do cheat, some have cold feet and brides and grooms are left there humiliated and depressed by the fact that the person who they loved and thought returned that love was now forever gone. Serena is the darker twist, how would said bride/groom react in finding out their lover is cheating and say so many horrible things? Would they stay sane or completely lose their sanity?

From what i remember about most folklore i learned as a kid, is that most of it hide a true meaning in them, like Hansel and Gretal represented famine in large families, not enough food going around and your only option was to either eat them or send them off somewhere else, hoping they will be saved at the same time you will have enough food.

Many Folklore we grew up with has a meaning to it that which we always tend to over look or blindly pass by in a hurry to get to that one"scare"moment we all seem to crave, but why is that?

As we get older, from child to adult, the usual things that scare us make us laugh now but in its place something else comes out and terrifies us, but even so we still want to watch or read. What is it that makes us quiver yet enjoy or love this? As Stephen King said"
I think that we're all mentally ill;those of us outside the asylums only hide it a little better – and maybe not all that much better, after all. We've all known people who talk to themselves, people who sometimes squinch their faces into horrible grimaces when they believe no one is watching, people who have some hysterical fear – of snakes, the dark, the tight place, the long drop . . . and, of course, those final worms and grubs that are waiting so patiently underground."

                                                                                 CreepyPasta/Pokepasta, The world's inhabitants.

CreepyPasta has made its home in our hearts and minds, keeping us awake at night with wanderings if something will get us in our sleep. The most popular that i have seen is Slenderman; a tall faceless man with long arms and legs and long tendrils that come out of his back, some people who rather joke about him call him by" pedoman, the pervert, the molester". Slenderman is not one of those things, i believe from what i have seen and read of him is that he is misunderstood, he does in fact feed on the fear of children. Slenderman lives remotely in woods/forests that are darkened and off the beaten path, from thrill seekers to rowdy, misbehaved kids enter the forest to only face their imitate demise.

Jeff the killer, himself represent the insanity inside us all, just waiting to seep out and take control, changing our very existence and making something dark and evil, Jeff was stated as an ordinary 13 year old boy who had moved to a new area due to his father's work but then encountering said area's bullies. The encounter with them sets of many signs from Jeff which people had put off and choose to ignore. With each passing day of nothing more then torment; slowly turns Jeff upside down and inside out, from being drench in gas then lit a flame to waking up and seeing how pale he is, how different he looks finally sets him off, cutting off his eyelids so he can always be awake to slitting his mouth on both sides to always keep smiling and finally killing the ones he love and using his now catchphrase," Go to sleep".

Ben Drowned, as he is usually called an imp, is a haunted game cartridge of Majora's Mask for the N64. It is most associated with the catch phrase " you shouldn't have done that". It is said that if you receive this mysterious cartridge that you will see a save file named" BEN" if u choose to ignore it and make a new save file, u will notice that the NPCs are calling your character "BEN". If you believe its because of the save file do not delete it, because if you do; you will then encounter many "wonderful" surprises in the game. Ben will then speak to you through cleverbot and will ask you to do things, ignore and u will meet your untimely demise.

Lost Silver, as he appers in a fanmade game, is the main character you use in the silver and Soulsilver games, for some odd reason after defeating RED on top of Mt.Silver, silver suddenly dies, the causes are unknown but one thing is for sure, Silver waits until someone finds the old Pokemon Silver game cartridge, once you turn it on; you will be in for a treat.

Herobrine, a character that appears inside the game minecraft; it is said he hacks into your game. Changing the map and then slowly proceeding to kill you inside the game. Not much is known about this mystery character other then that people are thinking that it could be a hacker using the character. Be warned, if you set into the world of minecraft, you may just encounter our mysterious friend.

                                                          Asian Horror/movies/stories

Japanese horror,
can be traced to horror and ghost stories of the Edo period and the Meiji period, which were known as kaidan. Elements of several of these popular folktales have been worked into the stories of modern films, especially in the traditional nature of the Japanese ghost. Ghost stories have an even older history in Japanese literature, dating back to at least the Heian period (794–1185). Konjaku Monogatarishū, written during that time featured a number of ghost stories from India, China and Japan. Kabuki and noh, forms of traditional Japanese theater, often depict horror tales of revenge and ghastly appearances, many of which have been used as source material for films.

Many different type of horror/Ghost games were made as well as movies, mainly with revenge or tragedy, most of these seem to hold a strong connection to young children to teens, sometimes even adults. Children represent the innocence in the world, with that in mind; it is sought that all darkness(or evil)will sought to destroy that innocence.
Japanese horror is popular in culture, noted for its unique thematic and conventional treatment of the horror genre in light of western treatments. Japanese horror tends to focus on psychological horror and tension building (suspense), particularly involving ghosts and poltergeists, while many contain themes of folk religion such as: possession, exorcism, shamanism, precognition, and yōkai.
A notable Horror movie is Kuchisake-onna, (Slit-Mouthed woman) offers a contemporary take on a popular Japanese folklore of a disfigured woman who kills. The Folklore of this woman is said she was disloyal to her Samurai husband so he slit her mouth to the ear; it is said that if you encounter Kuchisake-onna while she is wearing a surgical mask, that she will ask u one question," Am i Beautiful?" if you reply with, "yes", she will take it off, revealing her disfigured face and will ask again," Am i still beautiful?". This is a trick question, the answer,"yes" will cause her to do the same to you what happened to her or if you say,"No" will cause her to kill you in a painful manner, the trick to get away without harm being done is to say," Maybe" or "In Between". This will cause her to be confused and that will give you enough time to escape her.

Yamamura Sadako, as appeared in the original noval was stated as an hermaphrodite. She is a vengeful spirt hell bent on harming and killing. In both novels and movies; she was hinted to be the child of an Oceanic Deity; which made her quasi-oceanic(demigod). Her name combines the Japanese words for "chaste" (sada) and "child" (ko). Most other incarnations share one thing in common: Sadako's need to reproduce, something she can not do herself, as she is portrayed as an intersexual. This is generally the reason why she creates the "Ring Virus", since she will "live on" in it, as long as her DNA (merged with that of the smallpox virus) still exists. In some incarnations where the "Ring Virus" is just treated as a mysterious phenomenon, and not a biological virus, she generally created it for the purpose of wreaking vengeance on humanity; by using a videotape that held her"life" once the viewer sees it, will fall to their demise after 7 days.
